Curriculum Standards

The Dive Into Art curriculum meets a broad spectrum of New National Core Arts Standards (aka Common Core or CCSS) and State Visual Arts Standards.

Dive Into Art lessons are academically rigorous, placing the visual arts within the context of diverse cultural and historical frameworks. Dive Into Art lessons inspire students’ creativity using a variety of art media. Students work both independently and collaboratively. Dive Into Art lessons build a foundation of discipline-specific arts terminology with which students are encouraged to analyze and critique various works of art. Dive Into Art multi-disciplinary lesson extensions provide myriad suggestions in which students may explore related topics for enhanced learning.

This integrated approach to learning across the curriculum (science, math, social studies, language arts, etc.) inspires inquiry based and differentiated learning which build essential 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.

The new National Core Art Standards, which broaden the language of the previous national standards, were designed to further solidify the arts as a core academic subject and create grade specific anchor and performance standards for the arts. The central purpose of the National Core Art Standards is to best prepare students for life long learning through a “commitment to quality education, equitable opportunities, and comprehensive expectations.” The new National Core Art Standards also incorporate elements of advanced technology thus keeping pace with the world outside the classroom walls and further prepare students for success.
